Nitrogen dioxide is a yellow-brown coloured gas with a pungent odour from 0.2 ppm. Nitrogen dioxide is irritating to the eyes and the respiratory tracks and is highly toxic by inhalation and causes burnings.
Non-flammable and non-explosive, nitrogen dioxide is a strong oxidiser which can generate combustions.
